The nation holds its collective breath

22 June, 1938:  A nation looks for a young black man to be its weapon against totalitarianism. He not only delivers for his adoring nation but gets personal vengeance for a previous loss. The American way of life is reaffirmed, and America has a new hero. Nationalism is alive and well.
